The JOE-List is a network for young experts, who deal with Southeast, East Central and Eastern Europe, including the CIS, both professionally and in various social science disciplines. Currently the JOE-List consists of a network of around 12,000 members. Its main purpose is the dissemination of information and does not pursue commercial interests. All members of the list receive regular updates on conferences, seminars, publications, funding opportunities, job offers and much more via e-mail and the website www.joe-list.de. The thematic focus of the list is on current political, economic, and societal developments in the countries of Southeast, East Central and Eastern Europe, including the CIS.
The JOE-List was created in June 1997 on the initiative of Jörn Grävingholt as an e-mail distribution list from the then “Brühler Tagungen” of the Ost-West-Kolleg und the Federal Institute for East European and International Studies, which are now organised as the “JOE-Tagungen” under the aegis of the Bremen Research Centre for East European Studies (Forschungsstelle Osteuropa) and the German Association for East European Studies (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde, DGO).
The JOE-List does not pursue commercial interests. In order to cover the expenses of the editorial work, we are grateful to receive donations to a special account of the German Association for East European Studies (DGO).
